A Message from the Supervisor of Elections
Our physical office will be closed to the public beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, March 20, until further notice in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
We find ourselves living through unprecedented times, and these times call for unprecedented measures. We must address the current public health crisis head-on. Though our office's physical space will be closed to the public, I remain committed to serving candidates, voters and other members of the public remotely — through our website, email and phone — and by appointment when necessary.
All of the functions of our office — including registering to vote, updating registration information or signing up for vote-by-mail ballots — can be performed online at VoteAlachua.com, by email at email@example.com, or by phone at 352-374-5252. Public records requests can be made to Alexis White at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Candidates or prospective candidates can contact Tim Williams at email@example.com or 352-374-5257.
Regardless of the closure, the following public meetings required to complete the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary and City of Gainesville Regular Election will still be held:
- Friday, March 27, at 4:30 p.m. — The Canvassing Board will meet to canvass overseas ballots and certify the official results. Ballots will be available for inspection at 4:00 p.m. The Board will then make audit selections for the post-election audit of the voting system. A review of the audit process will follow.
- Monday, March 30, at 10 a.m. — The Canvassing Board will meet at the Supervisor of Elections Office to conduct the post-election manual equipment audit.
- Tuesday, March 31, at 10 a.m. (if needed) — The Canvassing Board will meet at the Supervisor of Elections Office to conduct the post-election manual equipment audit.
Please be well and remain safe during this time.
Kim A. Barton
Supervisor of Elections
